The 2016 report on “The Future of Jobs” by the World Economic Forum (WEF) provides some very alarming facts and figures on the state of the labour market in the near future. According to the report, in absolute terms, men will face approximately three jobs lost for every new job created, whereas women will face more than five jobs lost for every job gained.

NAWEM firmly believes this issue needs to be addressed now so that the current and future workforce, especially women and students continue to stay relevant and do not become a victim of statistics in the advent of Industry 4.0.

Hence, as a “call to action”, NAWEM is organising the STEM 2.0 Conference: IR4.0 AND THE FUTURE OF WORK to address this concern and engender awareness among the local employment workforce and supply them with the know how to tackle upcoming challenges in their work with the implementation of Industry 4.0.”
