Dear Members,

NAWEM is collaborating with Telstra to encourage participation from Malaysian women entrepreneurs to vie for the “Business Woman in Asia Award” category. Last year our member Anu Sheela represented Malaysia and was placed third. This is such a great honour for Malaysia and NAWEM! So this year we would like to see more entrants for this Award and we would like as many of you to apply. You must complete your entry online. Entries open on Wednesday 26 April 2017, and closes MIDNIGHT (AEST) 15 June 2017. I have also extracted some information from the website which I hope will give you some idea of what the Award is all about. Please feel free to contact me if you have any enquiries.

Do you know of women who are changing business in Malaysia for the better; women who are respected and admired for their remarkable spirit, achievements and leadership? Sound like you or someone you know? Nominations for the 2017 Telstra Business Women’s Awards are now open. Open to residents of Asia* who are:
− Employees in the private and corporate sectors.
− Entrepreneurs with a 25 percent share or more, who are fully engaged and active in day-to-day running and decision-making in a business they’ve been operating for a minimum of two years.
− Owners or employees of organisations that deliver positive social/environmental change as their core mission. Includes not for promotion and social ventures.

For Business Woman in Asia Award category:
− Entrants must be a resident of Asia (see list of eligible countries in Terms and Conditions)
− They are not employed by Telstra, a sponsor, or direct supplier of the Telstra Business Women's Awards
− Telstra does not have a financial interest in their business or organisation
− They have not been involved in the judging of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards in the past three years
− They were not an Award winner in the 2015 or 2016 Telstra Business Women’s Awards

The Judges look for qualities in each entrant that respect the values of the Awards; qualities including:
− A compelling vision that shapes what they do
− Excellent leadership
− overcoming adversity with determination and creative problem solving
− championing the skills of relationship building and negotiation in business
− mentoring others to succeed
− giving back to their community
− challenging the notion that there is only one way of doing things

NAWEM, on behalf of Telstra is calling everyone to nominate a brilliant Business Women in Asia and to spread the word across to anyone you would think is most suitable to be given this award. Your support in promoting the expansion of these prestigious Australian awards into Asia, advocating the value of Gender Equality and in giving recognition to brilliant Women in Asia.
